Best rifle to suppress??

Do you know what is considered a small size? I think my LMT upper has a .070 gas port. Is that small?

Gas port size is relative to barrel length and gas system length. What barrel configuration are you considering?

Ruger American 22 Bolt action is 100% noiseless with subsonic ammo thru Arc22AL can. It really is. All I hear is a bullet hitting the target.

For semi-auto: PTR32, but you do get the subsonic crack down the lane. One of these days I will splurge on 200 gr subsonic 7.62x39 ammo.

From my testing here is the list:

Bolt action 308. They can be made hearing safe.
Not any .223 or 5.56 AR - still supersonic and loud
AR in .300 blk. can be made very quiet - even quieter is an integral.

Small bore is quieter than big bore.

But, bore size limits your bullet mass, which means your kinetic energy is also capped, since you will want any bullet, of any size or weight, to exit the muzzle less than 1070 f.p.s.

A good compromise is a .30 rifle that can use 220- 250 grain bullets, and still stabilize them.

So that's the .300 AAC Blackout.

You say you want a manually cycled gun rather than a semi?

Don't they make bolt action rifles in .300 Blackout?

Another idea:

Pump or lever .308, using subsonic .308 with extra heavy bullets.
Handloads, maybe.

You may need to custom order a barrel with a faster than standard twist rate.
