Best of my knowledge this is a 1982 Model 500 ATP Tactical Police made for testing by USMC but lost to the Benelli M4. Used by police and other branches if MIL. I own some nice tac shotties including mossbergs. Own an amazing Vang Comp custom 590 but this old corn cob walnut with bayonet lug is hands down the most robust, solid and buttery action I’ve ever seen. Holds 8 rounds with rifle sights and smooth bore. Even the butt pad is still soft. Scored from folks had no idea what it was. It won’t take the place of my home defense shotguns with light, accessories, side saddle but it would make an amazing camping, hunting, and woods gun over your shoulder, especially in bear country. Mossberg folks enjoy some old school. It looks amazing sitting next to my old World War II rifles.

I picked up an ATP on here probably a year or so ago for a whopping $250 dollars only thing is bubba had enhanced it with his “upgraded” plastic gun show furniture. This post has motivated me to correct that action going forward. Thanks for that
Totally agree. I have modern shotguns but nothing quite like this old vibe.

It should be noted this swivel kit will allow a 1.25 inch sling to be used on this gun and the front stud threads fit perfectly into the back hole of the bayonet lug allowing true military size slings to be installed like the cotton GI web sling. I also provide the link to the best and cheapest web sling I've ever found USA made on AmmoGarand site, and lastly a very low cost side saddle in Ranger Green color that matches the gun and attaches 6 rounds on the side using a velcro board method of attachment. For basically 20 dollars you have a side saddle like this. My Vang Comp version of this is 120 dollars on two other guns. Which is nuts. I also recommend Federal Law Enforcement shells in low recoil 1oz rifled slugs and Federal Flite control buckshot in #00 size or #1. You can also add a USA made adapter and follower that converts this gun into holding a crapload of shorty shells. Although Aguila sells some good shorties I think Federal has some new better shorty bucks if can find in stock. Might as well say there is an amazing WOOX WOOD STOCK kit for 300$ that is stunning and way better than stock to dress up any mossberg or remington pump, and many other rifles and guns for that matter. It actually comes with quick disconnect QD sling holes.

Swivel kit 16$

Side Saddle 20$

Sling Under 20$

Shorty shell conversion kit 25$

WOOX stock set

LEO low recoil rifled slugs. Your shoulder will thank me.

The 8 pellet Flite control turns this into a 30-40 yard weapon and avoids that odd 9th pellet random flyer seen with all 9 pellet standard bucks out there. Their #1 buck is also amazing if you can find it. It's basically 15 each 36 caliber pellets in a shaft of plated lead punching a hole in the target. At 25 yards both of these can often be ZERO down inside an IDPA chest zone. Which is nuts.
