Best Survival Knife

I was thinking about a fixed blade knife that could be used for a variety of jobs not necessarily tactical. Do you have a favorite?

matters what you plan on using it for, for just general survival camp knife i think the esee 4 is damn hard to beat and probobly my personal favorite. If you know you are going to be pretty damn hard on it though, becker bk1. will take anything you can throw at it and ask for more, i dont know of any beefier knives

A good 4" or so fixed blade with a thick spline and good finger guard is a must have.
Some of the better brand thick splined, small kitchen knives work well.

I'm partial to a DPx HEST 4, only because I have one. I'm also partial to using a tool for what it was designed for and am not a big fan of splitting firewood with my knife, although the HEST would do it if need be.

There are a lot of knives out there billed as being capable of a lot of different tasks. Some even live up to those claims. The only limits are what you want it for and how deep your wallet is.
