Glass bead blast then if you cold blue it will take on a parkerized look

heliarc man oh man do not consider that, will ruin that barrel the first time you put heat on it, it will warp it and may transfer to the rifling , man oh man do not do it, just shoot it or creacote it

I have a ruger 10/22 made in 1966 with a similar booger where someone had had a leather sling around the barrel. I have never messed with it.
