Deer were moving good in Baldwin County this morning. Cool weather and a perfect morning to be in the woods. Had a buck grunting and chasing a doe around me before it got light enough to see then everything got quiet for about an hour. Heard grunting again down in a bottom below me and saw a doe trotting through, got my 45-70 up and ready, the doe trotted back the way she came then turned around and trotted back the other way again and stopped. Heard steady walking in the leaves and grunting again. he stopped with his head behind a big pine & I put my crosshairs on him. BOOM!!!! He never knew what hit him.
First deer with the 1895 GBL and I like it a lot!!
He ain't no wallhanger but he'll eat real good!
