Black out

Any easy clean up paint suggestions for rear night sights.

If the rear sights have white filled dimples, I use a black crayon.

Target shooters going back over 100 years would smoke sights with a candle. Soot just rubs off.

For something more rub resistant, black fingernail polish from the dollar store...1 buck. Nail polish remover takes it right off.

Black sharpies are my fried and the first thing I do to non radiated night sights, or any factory sights, no U, dots, nada to distract at the rear.

I usually just buy an entire new sight that doesn’t have dots in it. If it’s just painted dots, I will remove the paint, and/or paint the rear of the sight flat black.

I like my rear sight to have a strong ledge or hook on the front edge, something that I can rack off of, plus I want the face of it to be serrated. This isn’t usually what most companies offer, so I just replace it with what I want.

Another option is from Trijicon. They make different colors and brightness of tritium, so you can order a set with a bright green front sight but dim yellow rear sight, for example.

You can also flip the sight around in some pistols.

You'll shoot your eye out! :)
