Southern pelts aren't worth much but black used to carry a premium (maybe still does). I can't imagine a buyer would prefer one full of holes from a shotgun over a single well placed hole though.Several years back I was talking to a guy who said that he set-up blinds and killed them for their pelts: $40 and up (depending upon the color and markings). He said that he used a shotgun set-up similar to a turkey gun ... typically night hunting for them with a thermal scope. Don't know whether he was "BS..ing" or what!?
Is there a bounty on them or their pelts?
