bob gun

I agree a ruger p-series would be better, but waiting for one to pop up in that price range and actually being the first one in line to pm the seller to get it, that's a stretch. nothing wrong with hi-points. their bulky and ugly, but they work

un-****ing believable

I still think something in 22 WMR would be a good choice. The PMR 30 would be perfect if it weren't so damn expensive. Think about it. 30 rounds in the mag and 60 if you have an extra mag. And a box of 50 more rounds takes up about a third as much space as 50 rounds of any other ammo. I still think the wheel gun is the key for bug out bags. But if you want auto pistols then the Phoenix Arms 22 in range kit form with both barrels would be good. And I believe they can be had for about $180.00.
Aside from that check the pawn shops for Kel Tec P3ATs, Rossi 38 specials. Armscor 38 specials,PA63s etc.

Agreed, I did a thread on a .22 being a great bugout gun and a WMR is ballistically right in the between a .556 and a .22. More ammo per volume and a ballistic tip WMR does some good damage

If you want a rifle in that range-.22 no doubt. for a pistol I think you can get a Taurus tcp .380 in that range, definitely can used. I edc one, and you cant tell, goes bang everytime and using home defence rounds does noteable damage!

Johnny I LOVE those 995's one of my prized possesions. if any of you highpoint haters wanna off load another one pm me. Im gonna assume its cheap since your a hater and think its a pos.

After all the reading I've done on Hi Points I won't hate on them. I aint ready to buy one but I look at them in a different light than I used to. I would probably find more use with one of the carbines than the pistols. But what ever works in your price range is good.
I just got a Makarov in 9x18, finally. And these are gonna be over the $200.00 budget too. But it's really worth it for what you get. I watched a video on Youtube with a guy running over a Mak with his Jeep. Then he threw it in mud, water and sand. It never quit shooting. It's basically the pistol version of an AK rifle.
But seriously, if you can find the H&R or NEF revolvers in 22 WMR they would probably make the best BOB candidates. They were built really well.

#1 What is the level of experience the ladies have? For some handling a 357 snubby is a little hard.
#2 What other gear are they planning to carry? Weight, especially for those not accustomed to it can be very costly if having to make a getaway on foot.
#3 How far will they have to travel?
#4 Current demographics and population of your AO
#5 Will they be carrying the weapon concealed or OC? The least amount of attention they can get the more likely they will be able to get out of dodge.

Something I try and drive into the misses is that in a WROL event she needs to look and act as much like a dirty man as possible....also if she is going to be evading people to link up with other members of the tribe then they need to be trained making sure they are not followed to your safe zone.

these are just some of the questions you need to ask yourself before going this route. I would advise a compact handgun that both ladies feel comfortable firing/reloading/maintaining.

A Keltec, bersa, and tauras has killed many a hoodrat and can be found for around $200 but like anything else its the operator and not the tool that really counts.

My wife packs and repacks bags for our vehicles and her niece. Many things need to be considered in each individual's bag. But weight is an issue for everyone. I still like revolvers for this bag project and for folks with less experience. If the ladies object to the 357 snubby recoil then you always have the option of loading it with 38 special. I'm a big fan of 38 snubs. I think there should be one stashed in every room. But again, one of the reasons I suggested 22 magnum is because that one 50 round box of 38/357 will take up the same space and weight as 150 rounds of 22 magnum. And even if you find a good Rossi or Charter used it's gonna be $300.00 or more.
I really like the Bersa pistols and I love Makarovs. But these are now over $300.00 too. You MIGHT be able to find a PF9 or P11 in the $250.00 range. And with the P11 you have the option of cramming a full size Smith hi cap mag in it. Gotta like that. But if space is at a premium the P3AT is the winner. I just have a hangup with auto pistols that only hold 6 rounds in the mag. Bottom line, get to your pawn and gunshops as well as Gunbroker and find a used H&R or NEF 22 WMR revolver. They aint the prettiest wheel guns but they ARE solid.

Shadowman3861 has a very decent looking Rohm/RG 38 special listed right now for $150.00. You probably won't find a better deal than that. Then you could buy $50.00 worth of ammo.
