Bought a project rifle

Thinking about sending the scope to Leupold for a refresh. Has anyone here done that before?

I personally have never done it. I know folks who have and the work was either free or reasonably affordable depending on what was done and it's all done by them. They are life guaranteed, so no worries there.

I sent one in that belonged to PD I work for. It was over 20 years old. They repaired it. It went tits up again within 3 months. Sent it back and they determined it was not repairable. The model had been discontinued years prior, so they replaced it with a new comparable model....no charge.

i'd cerakote the metal (not including bolt) a nice blued looking color. the stock if it's wood just needs stripped down to bare wood and stained, with the barrel chopped sporters a nice gloss finish does make them have a 1960s-70s classy look.

as long as the barrel cut is good and it shoots accurate it should make a fine rifle
