1854 early serial number Whitney. #12XX. Can someone tell me more about this particular piece? Is this a first or second model. Thanks

Thank you sir. The action works for the most part. I noticed that the cylinder doesn’t always rotate when you cock the hammer, which is a problem. Is this caused by a worn spring or plunger? If anyone knows this, please let me know. Thanks

Does it do it on the same cylinder every time? If so your cylinder may need repair, otherwise it's more than likely a weak hand spring.

It appears to be a second model 3rd revision.

I have a very detailed book at home about the Whitney called Whitney Naval Revolver, that goes through production numbers and changes among the two models and their revisions.

Nice piece and in fairly good shape too.

Hey SlyCooper0203 SlyCooper0203 :

This could be a really nice piece.

This kind of initial compliment, from this man is a big plus. Rabbit2047 knows his sh** when it comes to those historical bang sticks and boomboxes.

Find someone that is EXPERIENCED in repairing these weapons, not some jackass that stuck a trigger spring in a Glock and thinks he can fix anything....good luck.

In for details when repaired or refinished details and pics !
