I feel like we have an incredible young team with deep playoff potential. Our lineup may be the best we have had in many years. But our bullpen is horrendous, AJ Minter especially... era of almost 10 is not a closer. Seems like a good kid, but he can’t seem to throw strikes often enough. I’m afraid we are killing this kid, he needs a rotation back to the minors to get his confidence back.

I keep hearing how many great young arms we have in the farm system...where are they? Why can’t we bring some up to fill these holes... 3 solid relievers would change our whole team and what about Kimbrel? If we had better mid relief and a solid closer, we could easily be in 1st place.

I'm a Yankee Fan but watch the Braves almost every game. The Braves have the same problem the RedSox, Angels and few other teams have, there starter 's pitch 6-7 good innings then the last 3 innings you are hoping you can get 9 Outs. The problem is that to many pitcher's are specialist either they can only go against a right /left handed hittter The team's can't carry enough pitchers like this so they go to
" Ball Pen" by committee. Which does not work most times. Look at the Red Sox last year they had good relievers and they Dominated, this year they let go 3 of there relievers and they are in LAST PLACE, another example is when the Cubs Won the World, they gave away there best Prospect to the NYY, for Champmen, one of the best relievers in the game. The Cubs pitched him in Every game and did not care about his arm as long they won! What the Braves need is a John Smolth. Who could picth to anyone.

We all knew they needed relievers and they did nothing...
It was said we have pitching and we know what we are doing...

So here is what they are doing:

They refuse to pay for relievers the price they expect to be paid.
They figure if they get near mid point of the season in contention
They will pay pennies on the dollar in trade to a team that's out of contention
So if they can hold it together they will trade for something..but they don't have enough
To contend right now...so we are stuck..

Braves payroll is in the middle they could have Kimbrel. (and he could have possibly sucked)

BTW....
Did anybody hear the chant for Kimbrel during the implosion last night?

So glad you started this thread. I think all of Braves country is feeling the same way you are. I know I am.

I think the major hiccup behind signing Kimbrel is the draft pick compensation that’s tied to him. I know it shouldn’t matter and it doesn’t matter to most of us, but from what I’ve read it matters to AA.

I’m hoping to see some sort of trade soon that address this bullpen.

For now all we do is be glad we have an offense
And that some of the young starters are finally making a difference.

I've figured out the easiest way to enjoy the games...... watch to the 6th and turn it off. Keeps my boys from learning new and creative ways to string together a few expletives. It really kills the enjoyment when the starters put on a great show and then the closer takes a dump on it.

Yep

Bullpen sucks and Starters can’t give ya 7 innings. Bullpen on this club can’t get 12 outs. However the young players on this team seem to live up to the hype. So future looks bright.

Millennial Bravos fans chatting we want Kimbrell weren't around during money ball evidently.
No decent bullpens in the NL west because they don't see the value in paying a long term 100 mil contract unless they're going into the playoffs. Sad, but baseball is a homerun contest now. Colorado will win the WS because they hit doubles & have pitching. Phillies figure if they keep scoring 8 runs every game they might win the division but since they spent all the money on Harper they won't. You can get a on the way out starter for nothing to stick in the bullpen if your closers go down. Don't bring the young arms up too early but Blevins - the braves used to square up on him I remember.
