Buddy has an increasingly aggressive dog......

Unfortunately that dog will either kill the other pit or disfigure or kill a grandchild. I spent years dealing with aggressive dogs not just pits and they would be ok while alone but introduce another dog, small child or put your had near the food bowl and it was instant attack. I wish you luck. As far as pit rescues they are overwhelmed. They will perform a temperament test And if the dog fails they will not take the dog.
^^^^^^^
Time to put it down. Well, I don't think he's mean. Bites disfigured another dog, okay, god forbids bits and or disfigure a grand kid............or worse......
Put it down.

I was a euthanasia tech. I can tell you that it is a painless peaceful process when performed by a trained
Individual.
Oh I get that. Have had to have more than one euthanized, due to old age or critical illness etc. She is just feeling guilty that the animal will die and its all her fault. My buddy is scared this dog is going to eventually hurt someone. I hate to see the animal destroyed.....but in this case it seems the right thing to do. I was curious what others would think and if any pit lovers knew of an alternative. Looks like we all share a similar opinion.

or you could try and find it a new home

There's a bazillion Pit rescues around. At least try those first before making the decision to kill it. It is her fault and she should do everything they can to try and fix the issue before putting it down. Maybe it just needs to be in a home where it's the only dog?

Not nearly enough info here to determine what to do. I've worked with many dogs that behaved the way you describe that, once trained, were no longer a danger. On the other hand, I've worked with dogs that it was clear almost instantly that euthanasia was the only option.

PM me and I'd be happy to do an evaluation for you at no cost.

It's the wife's fault the dog has become unpredictably aggressive?

Thanx guys. His opinion and mine is that the only safe thing to do is have her put down, but the wife is feeling guilty. I'm gonna share this thread with him.

She'll feel more guilty when the aggressive dog hurts or kills someone or hurts her other dog. It's easy to prevent a tragedy but impossible to fix a tragedy once it happens.
