Busted

Says the lines were cut. Does the power line neutralize the cellular backup (in case phone lines are cut) or did they just not have one?
Read the affidavit for arrest https://media.bizj.us/view/img/11189851/roberts.pdf It is very interesting.
A couple things:
1. the car was a rental. The rental car was equipped with a GPS tracking system. The historical record of the GPS showed the vehicle at or near each of the thefts.
2. The MO of the breakins was to completely remove the entire electrical meter prior to entering. They would entirely remove the audible alarm and activate the door alarm and observe for at least a half hour before entering. After entry disable the surveillance.
3. The owner of one of the shops broken into, also owned the house next door. That house next door had motion activated surveillance that was transmitted to the owner.

That additional surveillance led to the vehicle which led to the investigation and arrest.

The issues are: Need for independently powered surveillance and notification. Particularly from adjacent structures (the top of light pole?) viewing the facility. Notification of power outages, and the need for long term alternate power for surveillance, alarm, notification and surveillance

Add:

1. Booby trap connected to power meter..

If a person sets up such a trap to protect his/her property, he/she will be liable for any injury or death even to an unwanted intruder such as a burglar. It is illegal to set a booby trap on one's own property to prevent intruders.

A better idea is a couple pinhole cameras and motion detectors set to transmit video when activated.

It was in humor.....

No idea on that, just saying its alot of $$$ in stolen property that the scumbag already had in possession, yet he kept trying to steal more. Makes you wonder what was the motive to keep going, instead of laying low while "ahead".

Maybe they can use him to sting the ring?

He had to be fencing that stuff somehow.

So glad to hear they finally caught him. Now throw the book at him!
