I have a honda 300 4x4 that can go easily off the trail, and a 4x2 honda rancher 350 that is a little wider but being 4x2 make for easy off trail turning

The Recon would be the better choice they have not made the 300 Fourtrax since 1999 if you don't want to shift gears you will need to get a belt driven machine like a Yamaha grizzly or Bruin.

Honda Recon ES 250. $4500 MSRP. The most maneuverable were the old trike atvs, but good luck finding one of those in good shape.

Absolutely love my recon 250. Nice and light and will go anywhere.

Another vote for the Recon. I bought an old 91 Fourtrax 250 for $400 a few years ago to keep on a hunting property and not worry if it got stolen. The thing will not die and still starts on the first crank every time. It goes anywhere, and if I get stuck I just get off and yank it. And it drags a 200 lb deer with no problem.
