Why would you carry something that you have not shot, or more importantly something you know you shoot well? Drop the hammer and nothing?

Sure I have guns that I don't shoot. Bought some years ago and never fired them. After I have handled some for a while (but never fired) I may decide I don't like them well enough to keep them. After I sell one, I may buy another to stick in the dark confines of the safe. I have a few that I carry and fire often. If I purchase a rifle, I ALWAYS shoot them.

I have few that are hard to find or expensive ammo that don't get shot much:

Martini Henry 577/450 costs about $5 a round when I can find it.

30-40 Krag $1.65 a round

7.7 Japanese $1.45 a round

I have several new in the box guns. However, they will eventually get used. But to carry a weapon that I have never fired! That is just plain insane .
The one I carry is the one I shoot the most.
Gotta know where that bullet is going when you pull the trigger .

I’ve got a pair of Colt SAA’s, both 4.75”, blued, in .45 Colt. One has ivory grips and gold appointments. Competed with them both for years, still shoot them. If I’ll shoot them, I’ll shoot anything, and they’re both gorgeous......one a little more than the other.

Used to own a Mauser C96 in 7.63 Mauser.......shot it regularly. Those rounds would punch nice clean holes in IIIA armor.
