Buyer Beware!!! Don’t buy from SgAmmo over $100 without insurance

So legally yes, they cover their asses. It is still not morally right. Right there where it says calculate shipping costs, insurance is part of the shipping cost and should not be optional. If it is free shipping then that changes everything.
Morally right? They give you the option and are completely transparent about it. This might be the most confusing thread I've ever seen on ODT

If they are charging a shipping cost, insurance is part of the cost of shipping. It should not be an option. If I sell you a product with the understanding that I will have it delivered, I have a legal and moral obligation to make that happen. They are slipping around the legal part of it by doing it the way they are. Morally it is still their obligation to deliver what you bought or at least is should be. Obviously we were raised in different times and view right and wrong differently.
If they offering free shipping then yes, I can see the insurance being an option.

I'd complain I had called bloggers and newspaper reporters I'd call the Better Business Bureau consumer protection agency a call ATF and tell them to investigate the theft of ammunition in the channels of interstate commerce.

SG Ammo made the choice to use UPS to fulfill their obligation to get the ammo to your door they failed in their obligation because their subcontractor failed.
I think they're still responsible.

PS: Since you, the individual, are not UPS's customer, you don't have standing to complain to UPS or demand they do anything. That's up to SG ammo. ( and why should they care? They've already got your money-- right?)

It's nothing to do with morality or being raised at different times. I'm a small business too and I would personally refund the customer 100% and take it up with UPS myself.

You're simply wrong about insurance being the cost of shipping, it's not, it's an additional cost you have to purchase. SGammo simply gives you the OPTION to decline it if you want to roll the dice and save a few bucks.

It would be immoral if they tried to hide that option or something, but they are 100% transparent about and you have to check a box yourself clearly stating you're declining insurance.

It's no different than you and me charging a 3% credit fee. Sure we could do like most business and embed that cost into our products but then we'd be taking options away from our cash paying customers.

Options are good. I'd prefer business not embed cost like CC fees and shipping/insurance fees in there products and give me all the options.

As long as it's transparent (which SG ammo here couldn't possibly be any more transparent) then morality is not a issue whatsoever.
