Buying a car at auction?

No on public auctions. Dealer closed auctions are better but frankly decent vehicles are going for more at the auction than on craigslist right now. My brother runs a finance company and I go to the auctions and we talk about this subject a lot (where Im getting my info). Someone else may have a different perspective but if I was doing it for myself Id go another route. Just my 2 cents.

Lots of good info here. I'm seeing some in this range on Craigslist, but thought I might find a better deal at auction. Maybe not. Trouble/issue vehicles were a concern for me as well. Still in for info, but I may take the advice of @Labowski & try low balling a Toyota dealer. Of course, I'm in for any leads as well. Thanks gang.

I've bought a few at auctions

The good deals are at dealer only auctions
You can find a dealer that will buy a car for you

We got our 4 runner at "wreck connect " a biz in Conyers that bought wrecked cars at auctions and repaired them and sold them cheap, and we're very transparent about the damage to the cars , they would repair as much or as little as you wanted
If you just wanted it drivable and legal that's all they would do
If you wanted it painted and pretty , they would do that too

But lately I've gotten several of our daily drivers on eBay

But for a deal on a car you have to get out of Atlanta

We got our expedition on eBay in hickory NC
Got our turbodiesel 5 speed Golf on eBay in Savannah

Got my sons 76 Chevy K-10 on CL in Arizona
My brother got his first 05 Mercury marauder in Mobile ALA
And his second one in West Virginia
His wife got her Yukon in SC

We got Mrs roundhouses turbodiesel 5 speed beetle in ALA

Atlanta is THE most expensive place to go car shopping
Traveling a few hours away from Atlanta will save you thousands
