Usually I like to buy plated due to the cost savings (9mm/40/380/45).
Typically go with Berrys, not the cheapest but I've had good experience with them and they have free shipping.

What does everyone think of X-treme?
how much is their typical shipping costs?

Any other brands someone would like to recommend?

I use xstream 115 fmj 9mm. I don't shoot max loads, just target. No problems at all. If you sign up on their mailing list, when special run you normally get 10% off and some times free shipping when they have a deal.
Also acme has some good deals, look like lipstick containers. Normally red in color, not bad on prices either.

I've used Xtreme and found them to be equivalent to Berry ... So, they are just fine.
I see no imperfections or wide weight variance in either supplier.

FWIW: Pistol projectiles are not as sensitive as high velocity rifle projectiles ... minor imperfections
don't seem to affect performance much at under 900 FPS velocities ... just be careful to NOT go resizing them
when seating and crimping!

I only fool with 9mm.

Precision delta jacketed is my first choice at 9 cents a pop.

I make my own powdercoated bullets, but you can buy them for around 6 cents each. Blue bullets, bayou bullets, etc.

Over on Enos forums, where guys routinely run 10 to 50K + rounds a year, there's a consensus that plated is pretty much dead last choice. Xtreme or Montana Gold if you must. But more bang for the buck can be had.

I'm getting 2" rested 25 yard groups out of my G17/KKM with me Lee 120TC cast bullets, clear coated with clear powder, sized .357. Even buying alloy at 1.29 a pound, I still only have around 2 cents per bulket invested.
I may be wrong, but I don't think plated can produce the same level of accuracy as coated cast.

Retire your wife's current toaster oven and buy her a new nicer one, she won't mind. The old one is ideal for powder coating. Join castboolit forum if not already and purchase your powder from smoke4320. I bought his clear and it works great. I tried the harbor freight stuff, but it never covered well.

Yeah, try finding my favorite .38 pill: 148GR Hollow Base Wad Cutter. Everybody seems to be out-of-stock on loaded as well as projectiles, and when available (commercial loaded) they are priced in the neighborhood of Gold Dots! If you can find someone who stocks Ultramax Range Loads ... they might be affordable, and are a preferred supplier to Uncle Sam.

The .38 HBWC are extremely accurate and super-soft shooting! Best round for plinking and training ... especially for wives who hate loud noises and recoil! I would rate them very close to .380's for Self Defense as they unload their energy completely on impact.

Missouri Bullet Company is good and consistent. Bayou Bullets also.

All the guys that coat lead bullets though-- they now cost about as much as plated, which I don't get. Used to be much cheaper. Now it's like one or two cents per. Ouch.

Here are the links to the other ones I watch. Summers is dirt cheap for lead, btw.
