Buying guns and ammo at Wal Mart- forget about it.

It's funny because the first gun I bought was from the Walmart that used to be on Wade Green Rd in Kennesaw, It was a Ruger 4'' GP100. I bought it on my 21st birthday. From what I remember, everything went pretty smooth and I walked out the door by myself, they didn't require a manager to walk you out and hand it to you outside.

I have never purchased a gun at Walmart however I was glad to see them start selling them again. I have purchased ammo from them in the past. When you're at Walmart and you're stuck at Walmart and you're with someone else at Walmart you might as well look for a deal on something that interests you...
Picked up some 22LR a long time ago add a great deal....

I buy guns and ammo from Wal-Mart, when it's the kind of gun where I don't need to check the trigger pull. They, (like all big box stores) keep trigger locks on the guns until after you've purchased them and they're ready to have the manager escort you out of the store. For a shotgun with cylinder bore and a rather short barrel, I don't have to worry about the trigger pull's poundage, creep, or over travel.

Walmart has some good prices on guns. And ammo.

I buy range ammo there occasionally because it is cheap. At my closest WM, there is one guy who is very good about being in the section and he is helpful. I have experienced the lack of help at other stores, though, and it is ridiculous.

WM does have good prices on ammo. I have bought a lot of pistol and hunting rounds from them over the years. Here in DougVegas, Academy is right across the skreet from WM, so I mostly go there these days. They have good ammo prices too, and better selection, and I can walk up and grab it without the hassle of finding someone with a key.

If not for the cheap ammo, I would not ever step foot in WM. I have no other reason to go.

It is a bit farther drive for me, but I also support Ga Arms whenever I can. I like those guys.

Back in the day..before you even heard of a Super Center..buying a pistol at Wally World was like a 15 minute thing.
Heck..they would have Walmart specials made for them by companies like Ruger.
The clerk would go into the back and bring out laminated 10/22's to help you find a stock pattern you liked.

As time went on I started shopping more the small stores because I could see the writing on the wall.

That message was " Be glad I am selling you this. "

I think that's the same way Kmart got put of the guns and ammo bidness. I worked at a Kmart in Macon in sporting goods back in 87. Back then we had some rifle or shotgun on sale every Sunday. But not ling after that they just started ignoring customers in sporting goods. I remember asking one Kmart zit face several years ago " Why even have a register back here? "
