My wife and I took a drive today up to the mountains, taking the Cherola Skyway, cutting back west on the Tail of the Dragon, took the Foothills Parkway north to Townsend, and into Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountain National Park.
We struck out on spotting any bears this time, but we did manage to spot a Timber Rattler, which I have not seen in probably 20 years. It was actually on the alternate exit out of Cades Cove (Rich Mountain Rd).
It did not like being disturbed
