Calling all E-cig / "Vapers" .... what do you vape??

Im thinking of getting in a mech mod and a dripper. Dont have much to spend but if anyone has a basic set up they are wanting to let go for a good deal please let me know.

So I'm New to this thread and got a couple questions guys.

I'm going to give vaping a try as a means to quit dipping. I had posted a thread asking some opinions on a few things I was considering buying to get started, but now have a Vamo V3 on its way to me courtesy of NWSharpshooter(thanks agian!). It's goin to need a battery, charger and tank of sort. So here's where my questions come in.

I had tried my buddy's spinner 2 with an aero tank and it was pleasant to me. I went in the small shop here in winder and they carry the aero tank and protank. I had decided to get the aero tank so I can adjust the air flow. As a non smoker, I don't care to have any feeling in my throat when vaping. NWSharpshooter said he was using a protank 2 on the vamo with nice results. So what's going to be my best option here?

Also, I don't want to spend a ton of money all the time on coils. And have seen a few times in this thread folks saying they've had to change kangertech coils every 2-3 days. Is there another brand that will last longer? Will I have to change coils each time I change juice flavors? That might be in this thread somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.

Lastly, There is a ton of talk in here about V8P. Is this shop owned/ ran by ODT members? Or is in just an ODT favorite? Everyone in here seems to like that shop. And I have a feeling many of you might agree it would be worth my time and money to drive to norcross to buy the rest of my Vamo setup?

I want to do this because I'm tired of spending tons of money on dip. And need some help on how to get this thing set up to use cheaply as possible while I step down on nic levels to quit.

Thanks guys, Brad.

Brad,

Welcome to the Vape thread! I actually ran a protank 3 on the Vamo, not a 2. Not sure there is much of a difference. You can put the aerotank base on the protank 3 (which I did) and get the adjustable airflow. I used to change my coils out about once a week. I would soak them in vodka for a few days, dry burn them and use them again. Usually I could get two or three uses out of the coils before they were shot. The advantage of a rebuildable like a dripper or a Kayfun (which I now use) is rebuilding your coils is super cheap. Once you buy 100ft of kanthal, and a bag of organic cotton you are pretty much set for a while. The kanthal and cotton is dirt cheap too. The other thing I would recommend would be an ohm meter, however the Vamo will work for now as it will check the ohms of a build as well. Something to note is the vamo cannot go below 1.2 ohm.

V8P bar used to be owned by 300AACHoghunter here on the ODT, however now it is owned by other ODT members. They are a great group of guys and have a nice selection. I cannot stand their juice, but many here like it so it is subjective. You will have to find what juice you like and what works best for you.

Brad, NWS has a lot of good info right there!

I started with an eGo setup from V8P last spring and some of their Leih's Buns juice (Cinnabon). I quickly moved from that to a Vamo V2 and iClear 30 tank. Much better vaping setup but like you, I didn't care for having to change out pricey coils so I went with a Kayfun Lite+ and a mech mod.

A mech mod will allow you to build lower resistance coils like NWS mentioned above. There's a ton of videos out there on the different types of coils but I mainly stick to a micro coil built from 28ga. A coil takes a few minutes to build once you get the hang of it. 100' of the stuff will cost $5-$10 and last a good while. A bag of 80 organic cotton balls is like $4 and will last a very long time.

Now, with a tank setup, you won't get the clouds like you will with a drip setup. However, a dipper isn't great for any kind of traveling. DON'T DRIP AND DRIVE! I use my Kayfun for driving around and I have two drip tops for at the house. In the Kayfun, I run a 1ohm single coil. Since it has one small air hole intake, the coil won't get too hot this way and the flavor is amazing. I'm using it on a hammer mod with an 18650 battery.

First drip setup is an Akuma mod running on an 18500. Drip top is a Mutation X with a .4 ohm build. I built it at a .3 but that was a little bit ago so I'm sure there's stuff on the coils now. It's a dual coil build with one 5 wrap 28ga coil and one 6 wrap 28ga coil.

Last setup is a 50 watt mech Box Mod form Steambox Mods. It runs two 18650s. I've got a Plume Veil drip top with a single .8 ohm coil. The guys who built it said not to run lower than a .7 build so it's easier to run it on a single coil.

Thanks guys.

The dripping thing definitly isn't for me. I drive a tour bus. I mean maybe one day if I want to continue vaping after I cut out the nic. For at home that is.

I have two local shops in town. One carries the kangertech stuff I know, maybe more but I didn't notice it though. And the other has tons of stuff but insane prices($60 for a $17 online vision spinner 2 insane). it looks as though I'm definitly going to have to drive if I want to buy from a shop vs ordering. And since there just happens to be an ODT owned shop within a reasonable drive, I guess I know where I'll be going!

As far as coil building, again, maybe at some point. But right now I just want to be able charge it, fill it and vape it. And do whatever "maintenance" stuff as easily and cheaply as possible. The wife and I are on an extreme money saving mission for the next year through November. She's even went from $5 per pack cigs to rolling her own. After a $40 investment in a machine, roughly $23 of supplies roles out 3 1/2 cartons of cigs. And I'm spending $70-85 per month on dip. Like said above, I'm not a smoker at all, but my buddy's set up was just like inhaling a warm, moist lungful of flavored air. And it squashed my nic craving. And finding out I can step down nic levels made think it's the way to go.

So a couple of quick things i learned today.....First, the vamo v4 is not as durable as the v5 i had. Today the tube separated from the rest of the body and now is held together with electrical tape. Also, it went crazy on me and the voltages are all jacked up. 3.0v is hitting like somewhere in the 4v's so i actually have no idea what im vaping at right now but i have to go to the minimum of 3.0 or everything is scotched. Also one of hte buttons is stuck as well. Just decided to give FT a second try and bought a V6 and hopefully thatll hold me over and either last awhile or atleast till i can get something better.
Second, for those needing a ecig shop near gainesville, Vape and More across the street from Outdoor Depot actually has a nice selection. Both people there were pretty cool and they had a ton of juice. Now i have no idea what kinda juice the house juice was but they had alot of those popular specialty ones as well. Selection of mods was pretty impressive for a small shop as it had more than shops 3 or 4 times the size that iv seen. I would definitely recommend it over the vape lounge that charges a dollar a mil for DK juice...........

Bye bye kayfun.

Welcome The Aqua 2, the kayfun killer
