Can anyone recommend a non metallic knife?

I second (or third) the cold steel polymer knives. Not good for general utilitarian work but would suffice in a self defense situation. I have the push blade.

I have a FGX Tai Pan and had a Delta Dart from Coldsteel. My brother broke my dart trying to stab a piece of wood, not smart. I really like the Tai Pan.

That looks like a pretty good option at a damn good price. BTW be careful what you order and from where you order. I bought 2 generic CIA letter opener style daggers on ebay a few years ago and broke the tip on the first one the first time I stabbed the box they came in.
Oh yeah, Choate Machine and Tool carries these non metallic shanks too.

Not yet, but I like the ones you posted. I just wished they had a some type of cross guard. The reviews on the Cold Steel knives all indicate they are a tad flimsy. I realize this is a last resort knife, but I would hate for it to break in a SHTF moment.
