Carry permit question

There is in the Georgia state House right now, a bill (HB 292) that would do two things to speed up getting carry permits:

1-- It would mandate that the Georgia law enforcement agencies that do the criminal history checks MUST make a report to the Probate Judge within 10 days. Currently, they have 30 days to get the report back to the Court.

2-- Probate judges would be stripped of any power they might have had, or claim to "implicitly" have, to delay the carry permit application review for any reason, even if the law enforcement agency says they need a little more time to get the criminal history or to send it to the Court.

BOTTOM LINE : No excuses! Issue the permit by the required deadlines, and if later the Probate Court comes to learn some information that shows the applicant is disqualified, then give that person notice and hold a hearing to revoke it for good cause.
