what about carrying in a school at a non school event? Totally unaffiliated entity is renting the building.

Nope, only carry if you are picking up or dropping off and that is your only intention. If you have to go inside the school for any reason, no CCW will cover you.
What about these churches that set up in a school gym? They talk about Jesus in there. Certainly a school would have a bigger problem with Jesus than a gun. Lol
Unless its an organized sport shooting event or firearm training course hosted by the school then legally it's not advised...
There are over a dozen exceptions in the law to the general rule about not carrying on school property, but general self-defense by a GWL holder is NOT one of them.

I've had to be disarmed a number of times when visiting school property to run a 5K race, donate blood, hear a speech from a political candidate or activist, donate newspaper for recycling, or drop off old Christmas trees to be chipped.

Ok I get it, I won't OC my Mosin, but some of the legal minds answer me this. If a church is operating in a school gym on Sunday why is it not a church instead of a school at that time? If it is still a school, the church can't be there right?
It is school board properly 24/7/365. It is your little soiree for a few hours. Your event will end, the legal status of the event location won't
