Century amrs made vz2008 **updated with pictures**

the CAI rifle has a us made reciever and barrel. The barrel is 16.25" not chrome lined and has a bore diameter of .308 not .311 (standard x39 bullet diameter). The selector sweeps back switch to fire. You take down the fire control group parts by removing an e-clip and a roll pin

the CZ rifle is made by Czech small arms so the barrel is 15" and chrome lined. The bolt has a tab welded on for reliable semi auto fire. The selector sweeps forward to switch to fire. The fire control group uses a tension bar to keep the fire control group parts in place. just push it down and take the axis pins out

The primary differences in the rifles is the barrels, and how the fcg parts come out. That does not warrant a 600 price difference IMO

Especially considering that an "excellent" rated milsurp Czech barrel is $50 from Apex Gun Parts. The funny thing is, these are almost definitely the 15.5" barrels that Century took out of the FA parts kits to begin with!

IMO the availability of surplus parts really makes the VZ2008 for me. I got the AIMsurplus deal for $499 and then a complete set of spare parts for just under $200 from various online retailers... nice!

I do love my VZ58's (2008's) .... Hand guard and pistol grip are plastic / wood mixture... Don't know how they do that... After a few Mags, the hand guard will become very hot, so the gloves are a great idea. More accurate then my O-PAP.
Thinking of tacking one of them with Zahal.. They are not cheap... About $200 for replacing hand guard, pistol and folding stock...

And, yes, this was a great review... right on the money
