Nothing in Charleston is free anymore, but...
The Yorktown is great. 2 hours at least.
Fort Sumpter will he hot, hot, hot, or rainy.
Charles Towne landing is cool.

THE HUNLEY
One of the great places in the US to eat. Can hardly throw a rock without hitting a restaurant in the historic district that serves delicious food, especially shrimp and grits.
Aquarium is pretty good. Boat ride tour is worth it. Take a walk by Battery Park.

Lived there for a couple if years. My recommendation... don't go.

I was stationed there back in the day- traffic always sucked.
Went back for a second honeymoon after the Naval Base shut down- traffic still sucked. I guess it's more of a college/tourist thing and not the .gov employees hitting the roads at the same time each day.
But it was definitely filled with very friendly people every time I have been.
Be careful around Fort Sumpter. I heard the Yankees are trying to take back control of it. Oh wait... That's old news.
