I'd like a double action 22 revolver, not a museum piece, not a collector's piece, not something that I'm afraid to get wear on from carrying it and shooting it.

That pretty much makes it a Taurus or charter arms, so I'd like to hear from the collective, what their opinions are on either one. Thanks

What about a S&W mod63 ?
It’s SA/DA but is a great revolver and will last a couple of lifetimes if maintained properly.
I have one and it’s tough as nails, shoots great and feels awesome ! You can’t beat it !

I had a Rossi and then later a Taurus .22LR revolver as a hiking / camping / dirt bike riding in the woods gun.
It filled the role, but on both of them the DA trigger was awful.
I only enjoyed shooting them single-action.
Yet, on J-frame Smith rimfires I've owned, I actually liked shooting them DA, and did quite well. Their triggers were much lighter and smoother.
My suggestion: Get a S&W that's ideal for your role, pay $600 for it instead of the $400 you might spend on a Charter Arms, and ENJOY IT, even if the gun does get some scratches and honest finish wear during use in the field.

My drag-around-the-woods .22 is a S&W M-18 with Grashorn’s elk grips and a Tyler T-Grip, carried in a Tom Threeperson’s leather holster from Barranti Leather. Toted for a few years now, on hunts and wood trips in multiple states.

Ain’t a gun made I won’t shoot n’ carry.
