If a shop does a one sided brake job they are libel for it. When you hit the brakes you expect it to stop. Rotors and pads on both sides isn’t that hard

If you're about to get rid of it, just replace the pads and be done with it. You'll put what, maybe 100 miles on them by the time it's no longer your problem? As for these holier than thou posts, they're nothing but virtue signaling. Once traded, an older car like this will probably go to auction and then a "we tote the note lot." Let them fix it. You have nothing to gain.
