A weasel can go through wire that size at a run. Coons will work as a team with one one side of the pen scaring the birds to the other side where it’s partner will grab it through the wire. Bobcats, coyotes, possums, everything likes chicken. I love fresh eggs but they were a chore.

How big is your pin and how many birds are in it? Did they continue to peck/look like they were eating after it was dead? If so you may want to jump on it because believe it or not cannibalism spreads through flocks if they get a taste for it some times. You need some hardware cloth is what it’s called, chicken wire but 1/2” squares.

or it may be something as simple as pecking order gone too far because it does happen. If it is cannibalism though they made a topical liquid you can put on them and tractor supply carries it. It works if it’s not too late most of the time.

And don’t let ducks fool you, they’re ruthless LOL. And they’ll try to rape your hens and could kill them. Fun fact: roosters don’t have penises, hens do the work but some ducks penises are the same length as their bodies and when they rape your chicken it can kill them.

So the pen is 10x10x6 there is now 8 birds (was 0 kid killed one) 1 duck and the rooster. They are all eating 5 gallons worth feed in a week and water daily. Like Caleb says the duck likes to nibble the necks on a few hens. Never caused a problem but I think the duck is trying to get some action
