A husband and wife who worked for the circus had tried unsuccessfully to have children without success, finally after many years they went to an adoption agency.
However, the social workers there raised doubts about their suitability as parents, especially in regard to travelling and not having a fixed home.
The couple then produced photos of their 50-foot motor home, which was immaculate and well maintained and equipped with a beautiful nursery.
The social workers then raised concerns about the education a child would receive while travelling and in the couple’s care.
The couple advised that they had arranged for a full-time tutor who would teach the child all the usual subjects along with French, Mandarin, and computer skills.
Then the social workers expressed concern about a child being raised in a circus environment.
The couple assured the social workers that they had hired a highly qualified nanny who would be a certified expert in pediatric care, welfare, and diet.
The social workers were finally satisfied and asked, “What sex and age of child are you hoping to adopt?”
“It doesn’t really matter" said the couple "as long as the kid fits into the cannon".
