Civil Air Patrol ?

I don't usually directly disagree with folks on here, but im not sure where this business about the planes not being safe is coming from....

It all depends on how active and well funded they are since they depend on volunteer participation and fund raising. Big cities and aerospace hubs (like Redstone) find it a lot easier than Podunk Airfield's squadron.

Looks like they have LOTS of squadrons around Georgia.

Did you ever sign up? My 14yo is showing interest in aviation and there's a cadet program about 10 minutes away out of McCollum air field.

My brother was in the CAP his entire teen years. He's a full time biker now, 1'er%

We did not. My son is in AFJROTC now and seems to really enjoy that but more the military/discipline vs the aeronautics so I don't think this would hold his interest today.

My boy does love his dirt bike so that may be an option too
