Definitely will try the star and cylinder before trying to remove the plate.

I just sell mine to @1moondog then buy em back. Works for me

Side plate is ez. Make sure to loosen the strain screw before you take it off.

And make sure the right screws go back in the right holes. They are specific.

Nothing goes shooting when you take the plate off. from there, you can spray it out with whatever you like and compressed air, put side plate back on. IF you see gunk in there, repeat that a cpl times and maybe toothbrush it. IF you need to take it all the way down, do it in a plastic baggie the first time. you can use a ball point pen to re-install the rebound slide and spring.
