Correct. He is a local hero. That thing could have shut down the port completely if it had turned turtle in the channel. And we’re going on two years now.
Had it closed the port, I'm guessing that would have gotten cleaned up in months, not years. And I don't say that to take any credit away from the pilot; he did his job well and should be praised. Not his fault that people and organizations dither when they have options.

If I had to guess, I wouldn't say they are dragging their feet. EPA is probably making tons of red tape and what with COVID and labor shortages, it's probably just taking time. Besides, I doubt many people are heading down there to gawk at it.
We saw that wreck last September when we were there. Was wondering what ship that was, never looked it up. Cool demolition job.
Correct on EPA. They are being very protective and working hard to prevent environmental damage.
Surprisingly, locals say many have come just to see it. Especially right after it happened. Not so much now since several sections have been removed.
