AK guys - I need your help. I recently acquired a Serb NPAP M70. I took it down to give it a quick cleaning, take out the shepards crook, and install a retainer plate. I cant get the safety selector to go back in now. I am new to AKs but I do have a WASR that I have broken down, cleaned, installed the retainer plate, and reassembled a couple times without any issues.
As you can see in the pics below the retainer plate is seated properly and the holes and notches line up without issue. It almost seems like the safety selector pin isnt long enough for it to seat. I do not see any bulges on the receiver that would prevent the safety selector pin from seating in the hole on the left side (where the retainer plate hole lines up).
It seems like the pin on the left side of the safety selector isnt long enough? I can get it lined up but... What am I doing wrong here?
