All the "Good ones" go to auction. As of yesterday, CMP offered Field, Service and Rack grade.The history is awesome, but price for what you get isn't that good. All the good ones I think are long gone. You could still get a nice one in the 80s.

If you're a history buff they're a great addition to a collection.
They are pricey for what they are no doubt. My buddy got his surplus 1911 in the seventies when the nra was selling them. I think he payed about $20 dollars for his.
If course I'm old enough to remember when surplus gear was common and cheap. Every kid in the neighborhood had a least a helmet liner and a canteen.
I sometimes wonder what happened to all that stuff that used to be so abundant.
