CNC wood carving?

i've been debating getting one as well. a bit overwhelming. I build random wood stuff as a hobby and would like to venture into the CNC Router arena. Currently been building tables and cabinets and beds and they just take up so much room in my garage I can really only do one thing at a time.

I have a Shapoko 3 that I use from time to time. It's a good machine but the software is very limited. It is unable to read a lot of the files I try to import. It gives me a message about the file is too rich. My wife is a design engineer and uses Autocad. Some of her files are too complex for the Cnc software to use. Otherwise a good machine but I would definitely shop around.
