started this two weeks ago. Top is live edge red oak, legs are cedar with cedar lower shelf. Thinking about tung oil for the finish. It’s not perfect but I’m learning with ever project

Looking good! Tung oil would make that oak pop, but definitely need a protective coat (poly, lacquer, etc.). on the top at least.

I going to route bow ties to hold the slabs together. Going to practice this week.

What do you think about shellac over the tung oil?

Shellac will give it a much more protective finish. It will also give it a more natural wet look. I'm anxious to see your bow tie work. That's pretty meticulous work but pays nice looking dividends.

Lots of practice this week on scrap material. Either way I have plenty of slabs if I screw up.
