Good day people of ODT; would anyone know where would be a good place to look for and find scholarship funds for college? Anyone know any good resources to look and potentially receive scholarship money? Any help is appreciated. :)

Sign up at Fast Web. I get email every day about scholarships out there.
I'm going to give it a good workout when my daughter's ACT scores come back.

If the kid has high ACT or SAT scores, hire a college counselor. We had no clue what was out there and the tactics used to get as much money from better schools out of state. We always thought the HOPE and Zel Miller scholarships were the best, but there is way more money out there from schools that will match and better these two GA scholarships.

Other states NEED Georgia zip codes to round out their geographic diversity and will pay top dollar for it.

The college counselor we hired for one kid was not cheap, but the value ($) we got easily surpassed his fee!

I was accepted academically to UGA in 1978. Only need some financial assistance. My dad, God rest his soul, refused to provide any info needed to apply for financial aid. Based on our circumstances, I would have definitely received plenty.

As it was, I ended up going to Clayton Junior College for three years, completing two years of studies. Worked three jobs the entire time (UPS, Hertz, Rich's). Ultimately enlisted in the Air Force where I was fortunate enough to finish college.

Sad thing was, my not going to UGA, changed my future bride's plans. She was a year behind me and had full academic scholarships to the college of her choice (she was her years valedictorian). She wound up going to Clayton Jr her first two years so we could be together, then transferred to UGA after I went to basic.

Didn't mean to go off on a tangent. When I hear stories like yours, it takes me down memory lane. Wish you the best of luck in finding what you need.

The school you are attending will have a list of scholarships you can apply for. The school councilor should have a list of local scholarships available. Of course apply for Hope and Zell if eligible. You will need to complete FAFSA and CSS but so far Tech is the only school to require a CSS profile. There are groups on facebook that send out list monthly and you can go through and decide which ones you want to apply for and which ones you want to write an essay for. My daughter is headed to Athens in the Fall and she has been writing essays and such for what seems like forever but I know it started last summer.
