Been reading a lot on how the original 60's era Colt 1911 plastic grips shrink. A lot of times they are hard to get off a pistol. Read that using a blow dryer to gently soften them helps.

I am wanting to go in the opposite direction and put a set of shrunken grips back on a 1911. They are @ 1/8"+/- off on the hole if I line up one hole. Been reading that some people boil the grips and gently put them back on as well as one person making a stretching device and gradually stretched and heated in an oven to make it fit the grip.

Any thoughts on how you would do this?

I haven’t boiled them but I did steam a set to make the grip screw holes align better. Just make sure they’re hot when you put them in and let them cool completely down while screwed in place
