I have a Stainless 8rd Colt marked magazine, I think it is from the early 1970's, Thats when Colt had thier magazine vendors start stamping the "Prancing pony", It two tone Stainless, The Base up to about 1/8" darker then the Body of the Magazine, It is "G" marked.

Any information will be appreciated

I don't think Colt had 8 rounders in the early 70's and they weren't stainless back then. Aftermarket mags (Wilson?) were 8 shot before Colt factory mags were.
My Blue Book says Colt Government Models got 8 shot mags "new in 1992".
The "G" may be the manufacturer code or may mean "Government".
The darker color may be from welding the base on?
