Complete hunting newbie has a stupid question

I have never hunted hogs, but I think if you want the best hunting experience, and a REAL “hunting” experience

(rather than just an excuse to use your close quarters battle assault weapon-ish pistol on some living creature) ...

...then pick a different gun for the hog hunt.

A carbine in 7.62 x 39 should do it. I would avoid Eolf or Tula steel cased soft point / HP ammo.
I’d go with an American ammo company’s load that features a true hunting bullet.
Something that gets good reviews from either experienced hunters who used them or at least from testing on ballistic gelatin blocks.

If you want a “hunting rifle” that isn’t expensive and offers fast follow-up shots,
and good enough accuracy for hogs out to 200 yards, consider a
lever-action .30-30 or Remington’s pump action model 760 or 7600 Gamemaster.
The Remmy comes in .30-06 and .308 and all-popular necked-down variations
of those two rounds. And 10 round aftermarket magazines are available for it,
which means this rifle can serve double duty as a homeland defense
/ Second Amendment Militia rifle too.
