Complete Internet Shutdown??

I listen to an enterprise tech podcast.

These guys were doing near and long-term predictions.

One near term prediction in particular struck me. They say that (probably this year) some kind of state-level adversary will use AI Malware to attack the Internet. They also said it will probably go beyond their intent once it gets loose.

The more I think about this, the more likely it seems. (Maybe this year, but if not-then over the course of the next couple of years.)

What do y’all think the Implications would be if all internet access over a region were shut down for a week or a month? The more I think about how much stuff works through the Internet, the more inconvenient this possibility seems..... Not as bad as the entire grid going down, but definitely a big PITA.
Wouldn't be too bad if it just shut down the video games and porn sites....

Today's youth will be lost without the internet.

Bumping old thread to bring up relAted question:

Where will we get our world news / national news / local news to find out what's going on in the world regarding our emergency what other people are doing what government agencies are doing where the trouble zones are where the roads are open where they're closed --things like that?

I expect that if the emergency has political or racial overtones all the major news media and their social media cohorts will scrub the Internet of any true and accurate information, shut down the accounts of anybody who tries to broadcast the politically incorrect truth. We will be fed a bunch of lies and propaganda that are designed to push the people into doing or not doing certain actions as the leftists desire.

So... where will we get accurate information?

And who (even on our side) could be trusted to re-broadcast that information without exaggerating, lying, or spinning it into misleading propaganda for the Right?

If we hear a report of something important happening and we're not sure if it's true or not, how could we verify the story and attempt to check it out before we take action based on what might be propaganda, an urban legend, or mere gossip?

Just dropped a deposit on the next home. No internet available, cell phone or Ill be going to a local library. It still has a power pole with a motorized antenna at the top. But it should be 5 years before I get there so maybe that rural broadband project will be working by then.
