I'm a staunch advocate of firearms safety training.
I'm also a staunch opponent of individual mandates.
When will governments learn, people don't much care being told what to do all the time?

In Florida I had to take a class to get a CWP. For someone who has handled guns-and knows the laws - its a boring review. However, you would be surprised at the number of people that were in the class that had never really handled a gun. At least everyone with a CWP would be trained in the basics. I liken it to the Hunter Safety Education course-it serves a good purpose for the uninitiated.
and lets let people drive without taking a driving test, most people that dont think they need the class are the ones that need to go, just because you have had a gun for 50 years does not mean you are safe.
And just because you took a 4hr govt. mandated safety class, does not mean you are safe either. How many people that have taken the driving test still get into accidents, and break the laws?
Driving is a privilege, self protection is a right.
Do you need a training class to speak freely? To avoid unwarranted searches? Self incrimination?
Some of you guys think very short, and have been contaminated by the liberal media ...among others.
