My brother had a big Timber Rattler hit him in the calf as he stepped over a log while turkey hunting. Fortunately he was wearing snake boots. The amount of venom running down the boot was impressive. I didn't consistently wear snake boots in warm weather before that. I sure as hell do now.

I also have a friend that did get hit by a Copperhead in the hand. It was bad, real bad. He lost a lot of tissue and almost died when he had an allergic reaction to the antivenom.

You are a very lucky man.

Dog got bit the other night. $750 at the emergency vet until 2 am in the morning. Not fun and the amount of swelling was terrible.
