Corporate Job and Beards?

It seams mine is a positive with my customers. However I am a carpenter so it's different. I sell to high end clients, but I don't think they expect me to look corporate although I must be extremely professional. My dog comes to work with me too. You probably couldn't get away with that in your world.

Looks good as is.
Have a corporate job and because of longetivity I could get away with longer.
I know from experience there's a point where it just looks and feels too long and I can't take it anymore.
You go from looking well groomed to looking unkempt.

Sometimes I cut it all off and start again, sometimes I don't start again for years.
It never looks good if your mustache and beard aren't the same length.
At some point the mustache can't be any longer without touching or covering your lips.
When you come back for lunch with food in your stash it's too long.

My opinion, but I'm old fashioned and a former Marine.....

I was in banking before I escaped the suit and tie. My observation was about things like facial hair is: no will say anything but the old boys club will shun people who to not toe the line. You won't get reprimanded but may not be in serious consideration for promotions.

Most companies these days are fine with a 'neatly trimmed' beard. Unless there's some specific reason you can wear one (having to wear a respirator for example) I doubt you'll run into any grief.

The utility I work at used to ban them for field employees, but they gave up on that almost a decade ago. All someone had to do was tell their supervisor they get ingrown hairs if they shave too closely and they had to let you wear one, so they just gave up.
