Cost Factor??

It was cheaper. Now, probably not to just get started.

what I learned was you don't save any money, you just get more and better ammo for what you are currently spending. When I was shooting USPSA I was able to load and shoot custom 40 S&W for about 11 cents a round. I had time and enjoyed it, so if you count it as a hobby it was totally worth doing.

for the years when 9mm was 15-20 cents factory and I was just plinking, no it wasn't worth it. But right now I could grab my stack of penny primers, powder, and empties and load up enough to go for years. I haven't, but I could

I’m reloading so that I HAVE ammo and not worried about the shortage. I just bought a 25lb bag of lead shot yesterday for much more than I used to. But I have it added to the pile and will be used to keep my kids shooting through this ridiculous ammoageden we are in currently. Cost be damned these days. It’s about having it vs not.

*edit - I do have a MEC 9000 set up for 12 ga I’m going to be listing soon if anyone wants first crack at it. :thumb: Have some AA hulls to go with it if needed.
I could use 5lb of shot?

I could use 5lb of shot?

Tom Lowe shooting range near the Atl airport had shot, wads, empty hulls and cases after cases of shotgun shells. Would only sell live ammo if you were going to shoot there. $8.90 a box, so not bad.

When I thought about reloading i started collecting the hulls I wanted from the range and still pick them up when I see them. Started on a MEC 600jr 410,, Now currently I’m running 3 MEC automates in 410,,28,,20 ga,, Been overstocking supplies for the last year so now my supplies will last for about 3 years,,,,, There IS still supplies out there you just have to LOOK. IT IS GETTING HARDER BUT ITS OUT THERE. If you see a good deal buy some even if you have plenty,, Do I save money? With the sub-gauge I’m loading under $4.60 per box.
