They use the NADA guide for values. I recently registered a 2014 bike (used), though, and they did not have 2014 values loaded into their system, despite it being June already . Anyhow, they asked me for the bill of sale and used that. Fortunately for me, I had paid the guy cash plus one of my AKs, so the BoS price was about half the value. Point - me.

Yea that Title fee can be expensive. But just to expand on it, it is not based on the amount you pay for the car, it is based on the amount the state values the car. So if I buy a car from my brother for $1, the state can still collect the full 6.75% on their stated value.

We are currently looking for a car for my daughter. We went to 19 car dealerships on Friday- yep- 19. We spent anywhere between 2minutes to 0ne hour at each lot, depending on selection and price.

In most cases, car under 10K seemed to be very used or are priced more than the loan value. Example, we looked at a 2000 honda accord, drove excellent, low miles for the year, price was 9K! I asked the guy for the cash price (I found out he was a buy here pay here) He said oh , cash- $6,900 that includes fees and the title tax. I called the credit union and they stated the loan value is $5,600. ($1,300 less)

When I informed him, he says, yea you need to pay down $1,300 to get it...So let me get this striaght, you want me to give $1,300 to get the car down to the actual value/ what it's worth? nope.

Yes, the tag office bases the tax on NADA clean retail value. They don't give a damn what the actual car looks like or drives like.

So you committed tax fraud and are bragging about it online. Because of you, some poor, less-fortunate child will not get to buy new Air Jordans with their EBT card. Why do you hate children?

Your hatred has no bounds

I don't like to talk about it, but I do have a soft side. Every year I donate well over $20k to the world's largest charity, the Internal Redistribution System, where funds are judicially dispersed so that poor kids all over America may be doused with the basic essentials for survival such as modern gaming systems, ultra-high-speed Internet, and $200 celebrity-endorsed-Chinese-produced basketball sneakers. It helps me sleep at night.
