My landlord laid out the initial $200 and I paid the $150 for the title bond. He had another guy begging to buy it for $3000. My folks needed a car at the time. So I got Robby, my landlord to sell it to them and make less money. The point is that they NEVER could have bought the car at $200.00 because they don't have a big box truck with the "We Buy Cars.." sign on the back. And if they had bought it at a lot it would have been at least $4995.00. So the way I see it is that they got a damn good deal. And they were glad to get it.
Am I supposed to sell it to them for the $350.00 we had in it? I already took $500.00 less than we would have made just to help them out.
I already sold them a 2007 Mercury Milan when at cost when I worked for Terry Holmes Ford. I made $0.00 on that deal AND I packaged the deal paperwork up and took it to them. The only person at the lot that they had to deal with besides me was the finance manager when they signed the forms and picked up the car. That's what I used to do for family and friends when I worked at car lots.

Whatever helps you sleep better at night.

For what it's worth I didnt my comments to accuse you of being a crook - just general comments on my experience with others. I would still consider you to be a dealer whether you do or not, but if you are honest business man I wish you nothing but success. I do have a problem with dealers who post ads in a 'by owner' section but I have no idea if that describes you.
No, I never took anything negative from it. I've been doing this for a minute. I started at Butler Toyota in late 94. You could make some good money at a car lot back then. But there wasn't any training program back then and the other guys on the floor weren't gonna tell you a damn thing.
Back in the 90s Butler Toyota was on Eisenhower Pkwy in southwest Macon. I once walked up to a couple ready to meet and greet only to be met with "We didn't come here to get harassed by a God damned car salesman." So I said " Well yall must be lost. The mall is across the street." And I still sold them a new 96 4 Runner. I did that because as soon as he came at me sideways I saw his wife elbow him and give him the evil eye and he just kinda shut up. So from that point I just played up to what SHE wanted. They came to look at trucks for him. But she liked the 4 Runner and I didn't give a flyin' **** what he wanted. Long story short I buried them in a 96 4 Runner for 72 months.

I suppose we have a different definition of the word family. Where I'm from this type of thing don't jeehaw. ****, I'd give my mom my car if she needed it. Much less an extra car

I was recently in the market for a Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4, and went to all of the dealerships in the Tallahassee/Thomasville area. We found a few good deals, but by the time we could touch base with the Credit Union, and get back to the dealer (a matter of hours), the car would be gone. We ended up shopping on CL, and found a really clean Honda for about $500 under Kelly Blue Book/Private seller price. The seller ended up being a Florida Department of Law Enforcement fraud investigator.

All that to say, you've got to weed through the crap. If it doesn't have a local phone number, that's often a good indicator that you should take a pass on it.
