I have some shot guns, rifles, and a pistol that was was left to my sister when my dad past away. Her firearms are in TN and she lives in CA. Im taking vacation and going out there for a graduation. Can I take these across county to her or do I have to use an FFL? If I can take them across is there any specific requirements/paperwork? Thanks.

You not selling them to her just transporting them I don't think you need an FFL, you just need to be careful which states you cross so you don't break any laws. If you have a carry permit then just follow the states that have reciprocity law until you reach CA than you can get in trouble if pulled over.

Best way would be to ship it but gun-laws in CA are strict and she might have to register them if you ship them if she keeps them there she needs to register them as well I believe.

I read where a guy was moving his biz to Cal. He contacted local authorities there to see if it was ok to bring his collection, which had no fully auto or short-barrel weapons. He was told it was perfectly legal. When he moved there, his weapons were seized, being told he had an arsenal. He had fewer weapons than some of you folks. I think I read this in an NRA article, but not sure. I refuse to even travel through non-gun-friendly states any more. I plan trips around them.
