Crossed jumper cables help

If the battery is only a month old, why did it need jumping off? Seems there is another problem before the crossed cables. If the battery is OK, and the alt is bad, the car should run fine until the juice is used out of the battery. If the computer is fried, I don't think it would run at all. My vote goes to leaving the battery disconnected for a couple of hours and let it re-set it self.

Let us know what fixes it.

Alternator regulator will go before the computer or just about anything else along the line. Local auto parts store should be able to bench test it. Testing the alternator in the car is pointless and will not yield any useful results.

Any time you disconnect a battery, you have to reset the computer.Owners manual will tell you how to reset it.It`s usually simple. Not all cars reset the same way.I`m thinking the battery may have drained all the way down as being the reason for using jumper cables.(maybe lights on all night?)That could cause the computer to need a reset.Crossing the cables may not have hurt anything. Then again,it could have. Not enough info here.Is alternater light on?

Been there done that. The Dodge PCM will have the problem you described about losing idle memory. Most of the time you will fry a big bus fuse....glad you got it worked out.
